The M-40 has been used to simulate air strikes and to train Italian forces to face a variety of threats. During this exercise, the aircraft carrier Cavour, AV8B + combat aircraft and the destroyer Mimbelli were mobilized. Several M-40 UAVs played the role of the aggressor by simulating different types of attacks. “During the exercise, the M-40 played the role of a missile by simulating an attack on Italian Navy ships and then operated as an enemy aircraft would do in a combat scenario. air-air, “reports Leonardo.
In order to neutralize the aircraft, the Italian Navy notably used Aspide missiles. Missiles SM1 and Aster 12 have also been implemented.
