First ‘Hybrid’ Meeting in Defence and Aviation

The “Industrial Cooperation Days in Defence and Aviation” organized for the fifth time this year will be held through virtual and face-to-face meetings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ICDDA event organized by the OSTİM Defence and Aviation Cluster (OSSA) every two years to meet the right people in the Defence, aviation and space sectors, will open its doors in Ankara on October 13-15. The event will have a hybrid structure, as both virtual and face-to-face bilateral business meetings (B2B) will be held this year.

This year, ICDDA will host a series of panels on issues such as civil aviation, land-sea-air systems, homeland security technologies and the development of the supply chain. Panel to military officials in Turkey, Defence and commercial attachés, public officials, outside the domestic and international end users will be invited representatives of the company. In addition to the physical participation of approximately 2 thousand guests, foreign participants who could not attend the event will also contribute to the panels in a virtual environment. In the panels, the innovations related to the sector will be discussed, and the problems and solutions faced by the sector will be discussed.

Purchasers and supply chain managers who want to participate in the event but have problems with their flights due to the epidemic will have the chance to organize digital meetings with ICDDA participants in advance thanks to the “Virtual Matching and B2B Meeting” platform. Thus, purchasers who could not travel due to the epidemic will be enabled to participate in the ICDDA event and will contribute to the cooperation and export activities of the companies participating here.

ICDDA was last organized in 2018 with the participation of 260 companies and institutions from 60 countries. In the event, 5,700 registered bilateral business meetings were held.

Airbus, Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence Industry, UAE Systems, United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, Boeing, Brazilian Air Force, CERN, Dassault Systems, International Group for Security and Safety (IGSS) Kuwait, Korea Aerospace Industries, Leonardo, Qatar Armed Forces, Lockheed Many international institutions and companies participated, including Martin, MBDA, Mexico Femia, NATO / NSPA, Navantia, Pakistan Air Force, PTC, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Stelia, Ukroboronprom, Thales and Thyssenkrupp.

Main contractors such as ASELSAN, Baykar, BMC, FNSS, HAVELSAN, Kale Aviation, Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation, Otokar, ROKETSAN, STM, TEI, THY Technic, Turkish Aviation and Space Industry took part in the event. Also, AFAD, Ankara Development Agency, Ministry of National Defence (MSB) General Directorate of Military Factories, MSB General Directorate of Shipyards, Ankara Chamber of Industry, Ankara Chamber of Commerce, Information Technologies and Communication Authority, State Materials Office, General Directorate of Security, KOSGEB, Defence and Aviation Industry Exporters Union, TOBB, TÜBİTAK and SASAD were domestic institutions that took part in the event.
