The first HÜRJET, the aircraft to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force, completed its maiden flight on the 104th anniversary of the Great Victory. Developed indigenously by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries, Türkiye’s first jet trainer took off following ground and taxi tests and completed its flight, which lasted 18 minutes, safely.
The HÜRJET program, launched in 2017, passed a milestone with its first flight on April 25, 2023. During flight test activities carried out with two prototypes, HÜRJET also demonstrated supersonic flight capability by reaching supersonic speeds, drawing attention both domestically and on international platforms.
Following these achievements, work on the serial production process gained pace. Under the contract, final assembly line activities for the first HÜRJET to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force were completed, after which ground and taxi tests were carried out successfully.
Airborne for 18 Minutes
Once all preparations were completed, the decision to fly was made. In a flight accompanied by the first prototype, HÜRJET remained airborne for 18 minutes and completed its maiden flight safely.

Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Defence Industries, announced the flight on social media. In his post, Görgün stated that the first HÜRJET had taken to the skies, noting that the aircraft completed its maiden flight successfully following ground and taxi tests. Görgün thanked the Turkish Air Force, the TUSAŞ team, engineers, technicians and all stakeholders who contributed, stating that “the will that carried our independence to victory continues to give wings to our national aviation today.”
First HÜRJET Program to Produce Six Aircraft

Under the program, six HÜRJETs will be produced in the first phase. In addition to the prototypes used in flight and development testing, production and test activities are continuing as planned.

While test and verification activities continue with two prototype aircraft, production and assembly work for HÜRJETs in delivery configuration is proceeding simultaneously. HÜRJET is also set to be delivered to Spain together with a mission planning system as part of an export contract.
