The Republic of Korea is considering the use of the F-35B Lightning II on Dokdo Class amphibious assault ships. According to the Yonhap News Agency, the Republic of Korea Navy has shared a public statement about the countries that have evaluated the deployment of F-35B Lightning II in the Defense Acquisition Program Administration's (EPA's) electronic defense system supply and underwater platforms. In addition, the Republic of Korea was begun preliminary work for the deployment of the F-35B in the future on the amphibious ships.

The Republic of Korea was thinking of deploying an F-35B to Dokdo Class ships. However, experts say the flight deck of the ship will not be able to withstand the exhaust gas temperature of the F-35B aircraft during landing, so the flight deck needs some modifications. It also says it may need a ski-jump ramp.
