BAE Systems has been awarded a contract develop a digital replacement for the cathode ray tube-based head-up display (HUD) for Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptors operating in the US Air Force fleet. According to BAE systems, digital version of the HUD systems reduces maintenance and provides the pilots more freedom of movement. Approximately 180 F-22s are planned to be retrofitted.
