Delay on Leopard 2A4 Modernisation

Although designed beyond its era, the Leopard 2A4 tanks are getting insufficient to meet the requirements of the modern battlefield. Therefore, user countries are launching a modernization program for these platforms.

Test process are not going well for Poland, which has launched a modernization program in cooperation with the PGZ (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa)  and the Polish Armament Inspectorate for the Leopard 2A4 tanks. Displaying the technology demonstration prototype in 2016, Warsaw announced that the testing process of the modernized model called Leopard 2PL is still ongoing. While it is stated that some requirements are currently awaiting confirmation, the trial phase is expected to be completed in mid-March and the final configuration is to be approved by the competent government authority.
