Taiwan, which having faced sovereignty disputes with China on the islands in the bay and in the region, has carried out a number of important missile tests.

The National Chung-Shan Instute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) has recently announced that it has performed a series of missile tests. In this context, the latest cruise missile developed by the country, Hsiung Feng III and Yun Feng, were also tested. The test launch of the system, which was developed to eliminate the Taipei's targets stationed in strategic depth in China, was carried out at the Pintung Military Base located in the southernmost part of the country.

Designed for the destruction of critical infrastructure and superstructure such as air bases, supply facilities, assembly centres and missile batteries located deep in the geography of China during a possible war, Yun Feng has a ramjet engine. In this way, the system, which can fly at supersonic speed, reaches sufficient speed after launching with the booster consisting of solid-fuel rocket engines and starts to the cruise phase by starting the ramjet process. It is stated that the missile, which is 6.1 meters long, can reach a range of 1,500 km and has a 225 kg semi-armour piercing high explosive fragmentation warhead.
