Christening Ceremony for Third OPV

The UK Royal Navy's third River-Class Offshore Patrol Vessel has been formally named as HMS Trent at the Glasgow shipyard where she was built.

The service announced that HMS Trent will take to the water for the first time within the next few days to begin sea trials. The third of five OPVs, HMS Trent, will be armed with a medium-calibre gun and a flight deck capable of accommodating a Merlin helicopter.

Following the sea trials, the vessel is expected to be delivered to the Royal Navy in the second half of 2018.
