Canada Welcomes First Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship

The Royal Canadian Navy will take over the first Arctic and offshore patrol ship HMCS Harry deWolf (AOPV 430). About four years after construction work began at Halifax Shipyard, the Harry deWolf class platform is scheduled to be delivered today.

The HMCS Harry deWolf ship, which comes two years behind the calendar set for the project, was reportedly affected by technical glitches as well as covid-19.

The Royal Canadian Navy aims to add six Arctic and offshore patrol ships to its inventory to carry out a military mission at the North Pole. HMCS Harry deWolf is the first platform to be built in this context. The ship has 6,615 tons of displacement, 103 meters long and 19 meters wide.
