Developed for the F-35 aircraft, the SOM-J and the Laser-guided Bozok munitions developed for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles successfully passed the recent tests.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank shared from his social media account that the first tests of Precision Guided Stand-Off Missile SOM-J and the Laser Guided Miniature smart bomb Bozok are successfully completed.

SOM-J, the variant of SOM for the F-35, developed by TUBITAK SAGE and produced by ROKETSAN, was shrunk to fit into the body of the aircraft. During the test, the SOM-J prototype was loaded onto the F-16 plane and a “captive transport test” was carried out.

The separation of the safeguards safely was completed successfully. In the next test, flight data and camera recordings from the telemetry station installed in Bartın of SOM-J, which is separated from the airport, will be evaluated.

SOM-J is scheduled to be launched at the beginning of 2019 for the first shot test on the F-16 aircraft.
