The Ammunition Capability Demonstration organised by Rheinmetall Denel Munition at the Dunes Overberg Test Range, close to Arniston in the Cape Town area, included some 800 participants and two half days of firing with ammunition ranging from small arms to artillery and aircraft bombs.

It was the third time the joint venture between the German defence champion Rheinmetall and Denel of South Africa, established on September 1, 2008, organised such an event. The ACD takes place every four years and the next is being planned for 2023. Over 500 delegates from 53 countries took part in the event, which for the first time was organised hand in hand by RDM and the South African National Defence Force; while the Navy and the Air Force had limited participation, the bulk of the demonstration was carried out by the Army, which deployed all sorts of assets, from assault rifles to main battle tanks, to demonstrate the range of ammunition produced by RDM.
