India's Goa Shipyard has delivered a second advanced offshore patrol vessel (AOPV) to the Sri Lankan Navy in a ceremony in India on March 22. The 105-metre long vessel was delivered 25 days ahead of schedule, according to the shipbuilder.
Powered by two 9,000kW diesel engines, the AOPVs have an operating speed of 25 knots and an endurance of 6 thousand nautical miles. Goa shipyard delivered the first AOPV, SLNS Sayurala, to the Sri Lankan Navy in July 2017 which entered service in August 2017. The two OPVs were built under a $155 million contract signed in 2014.
