August 3, 2020Ukraine Increases Modernization of Soviet-Era Platforms
Ukraine has modernized the Soviet-era MiG-29 (NATO code: Fulcrum) aircraft. As a result of the process carried out by the Lviv State Aircraft Repair Facility under Ukroboronprom, it was announced that a modernized MiG-29 jet had been delivered to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The aircraft's engine and avionics were renewed. Ukroboronprom said the service life of the MÄ°G-29, which is undergoing electronic equipment and maintenance, will be eight years, which could be extended by up to 12 years.
The aircraft delivered is expected to increase the air force's capacity to attack ground targets.
