TICHE Project: A New Step for Hidden Threat Detection with Unmanned Systems

UAV Navigation–Grupo Oesía will work on hidden threat detection technologies through the integration of unmanned aerial and ground vehicles. This work is part of the TICHE Project supported by the European Defence Fund.

UAV Navigation–Grupo Oesía is a company operating in the field of unmanned systems. The company announced that it has joined the TICHE (Threat Identification and Characterization in Hazardous Environments) Project. This project aims to detect hidden threats in complex operational environments. Additionally, the project focuses on the coordinated operation of unmanned systems through a multi-platform approach.

Multi-Platform and Cross-Domain Operations

The TICHE Project aims to reduce risks in detecting threats such as landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Within the scope of the project, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are planned to operate together. These vehicles will use artificial intelligence-supported sensor technologies.

UAV Navigation–Grupo Oesía’s technical role in the project includes the following areas:

• GNC Systems: Optimization of guidance, navigation, and control systems.
• Swarm Operations: Coordinated flight management of multiple UAVs.
• Platform Integration: Integrating air and ground elements into a shared data network.

The project is funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF) under the European Commission. The work is led by RINA-CSM. Representatives from the defense industry, academia, and public institutions participate as strategic partners. The developed systems are expected to enhance threat identification capabilities in military operations. Furthermore, these systems will improve personnel safety.
