Turkey Continues Production of Domestic Ventilators

The global impact of coronavirus was reflected as export restrictions to the health sector.

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health, Arçelik, ASELSAN, Baykar, BIOSYS and the Ministry of Industry came together to address the need for intensive care breathing apparatus. ASELSAN has worked to improve the hardware and software design of BIOSYS's prototype-level device and to reach the productionable level. Critical components that cannot be obtained from abroad are designed and produced locally.

ASELSAN has signed a contract with USHAŞ International Health Services for the production of ventilator devices. The agreement of the Intermediate Intensive Care Mechanical Ventilator, worth USD 31 million, will support the breathing exchanges of patients suffering from respiratory failure.

From the onset of COVID-19 to intensive care, there are domestic companies producing different ventilator models that can be used in the treatment stages. Critical sub-components such as turbines and proportional valves, which are not produced in our country due to the epidemic and cannot be obtained from abroad due to the outbreak, are being developed.
