Thales has developed, in collaboration with the Dutch Army, a multi-mission radar system to enhance air defence capabilities. Thales announced on February 12 that it has developed a radar system in collaboration with the land forces of the Netherlands. This multi-mission MMR radar helps strengthen air defence by monitoring airspace and detecting and tracking aircraft, missiles and other air targets that may be present. “The MMR radar is able to track and record in real time any type of threat – drones, RAM (rocket, artillery, mortars), planes, helicopters, cruise missiles, among others,” says Thales. The system is also able to determine the launch zone and the point of impact of the missiles and bombs. The MMR radar can detect threats that can be up to 400 km away. The MMR radar, quickly deployable, is part of the range of 4D AESA radar systems developed by the French manufacturer. A contract was signed with the Defence Material Organization (DMO), equivalent of the French DGA, on February 11, to provide nine MMR systems to the Dutch Army.
