Having serious problems in the maintenance of vehicles and heavily damaged the nuclear submarine in 2018 with the hatch left open, India announced the short list in its tender for the procurement of air-independent propulsion submarines.
The Indian Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) has announced shortlisted companies as part of its nuclear submarine procurement program. L&T company and Mazagon Docks Ltd. (MDL) are took place on the list. As part of the 7 billion USD tender, the Indian Navy will acquire six air-independent propulsion submarines. Project, cooperation with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems from Germany, Navantia from Spain and Naval Group from France is also on the agenda.
India, which has determined a total of 24 submarine needs in order to bolster its capability in the Indian Ocean, will procure six of them as nuclear attack submarines.
