Singapur Donanması’nın İlk Çok Rollü Savaş Gemisi Victory Denize İndirildi

Singapore’s Defense Minister Chan Chun Sing officiated the launching ceremony of the Republic of Singapore Navy’s (RSN) first next-generation Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), named Victory, at ST Engineering Marine’s Benoi Shipyard.

The ceremony is seen as the beginning of a new era in Singapore’s naval defense capabilities.

The event was attended by Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary Desmond Choo, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Aaron Beng, Navy Chief Rear Admiral Sean Wat, and leading figures from the defense industry. Victory represents the first of six ships under Singapore’s MRCV program and symbolizes the country’s vision for defense technology.

Technology Era in the Singapore Navy with Next-Generation MRCVs

The new Victory stands out with advanced sensor systems, network-centric warfare capabilities, and a “main platform” structure supporting unmanned aerial, surface, and underwater vehicles. Designed for modern naval warfare, the ship’s high automation allows for more effective operations with fewer personnel compared to warships of similar size.

These new platforms aim to significantly enhance the Singapore Navy’s maritime security, surveillance, and deterrence capabilities. Once the MRCV fleet is fully operational, Singapore will play a more active role in protecting regional sea trade routes.

Minister Chan Chun Sing: “We Must Protect Our Sea Lanes”

In his speech, Defense Minister Chan Chun Sing highlighted the strategic importance of Singapore’s location for national security: “Today, our global communication lines have expanded even further. Therefore, we must have an integrated defense structure, protect our sea lanes, and ensure that no one disrupts our daily life or the global economy.”

Local Collaboration and Technological Leap in Defense Industry

Local defense organizations, including the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), DSO National Laboratories, and ST Engineering, played active roles in Victory’s design and development. This collaboration is seen as part of Singapore’s goal to strengthen local engineering and technology production capabilities in the defense industry.

Following the ship’s launch, the integration, system testing, and sea trials will begin. The first MRCV fleet is planned to be gradually commissioned into the Singapore Navy from 2028 onward.
