Russian AESA Tests Scheduled to 2019

Russia-based Phazotron-NIIR announced the launch of new AESA radar tests. The system, called Zhuk-AME, will be tested by Russian Aerospace Forces.

The radar system, also called as FGA50, was developed with an active electronic phase array. Radar will be integrated into MiG-29 and MiG-35 aircraft in the Russian inventory. The system, which was finalized before the trials and delivered to the testing authority, was introduced in 2016. Tests of the radar will begin in early 2019. Manufacturer claims that the system can detect aerial targets from 160 kilometres and it can track up to 30 targets simultaneously.
