Admiral Kasatonov, one of Russia's Project 22350 (Admiral Gorshkov) frigates, was admitted to the navy.
At a ceremony in St. Andrew's, the accepted ship will undertake missions in remote sea and ocean regions.
Project 22350, unlike other frigates in the inventory, can simultaneously conduct air defence and surface combat.
Admiral Gorshkov, whose displacement is about 5,000 tons, has a maximum speed of 29 knots.
Russia is scheduled to include eight to 15 frigates from this class in its inventory.
