Raytheon signed a contract worth approximately $580 million for engine spare parts of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. For the F-135 engine, Raytheon will provide a unit-level shipping system and module to support spare parts requirements.
The F-135 engine, which powers all three variants of the F-35 fighter jet, was developed based on the F119 engine that powers the F-22 Raptor.
The work, which Raytheon will run in Connecticut, is expected to be completed in December 2024.
