The Dutch government has signed a $627 million agreement with Raytheon, a unit of RTX, for the procurement of equipment for the Patriot air and missile defense system.
Raytheon, operating under RTX, announced that it has been awarded a $627 million contract to supply the Netherlands with Patriot® air and missile defense system equipment. The contract, conducted under Direct Commercial Sales (DCS), covers the delivery of radars, launchers, and command-and-control stations.
Production and Modernization Efforts
Pete Bata, Vice President of Global Patriot at Raytheon, stated: “Raytheon continues to cooperate with the Dutch government to modernize integrated air and missile defense capabilities in order to deter aggression.” Bata also emphasized that they are accelerating production to ensure the rapid delivery of critical systems.
Features and Use of the Patriot System
Supported by a world-class command-and-control system, the Patriot is a combat-proven system that provides defense against advanced long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and the full spectrum of air-breathing threats.
- User Countries: The Patriot system forms the backbone of air defense for a total of 19 countries, including nine in Europe.
- Operational Capability: It remains the only ground-based air and missile defense system capable of effectively countering advanced aerial threats and large-scale, complex attacks.
