Diehl Defence, one of Germany’s leading ammunition manufacturers, and BAE Systems, the world’s leading supplier of 5-inch naval guns, have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at boosting firepower on the naval battlefield.
Under the agreement, Diehl Defence’s high-precision 127 mm (5-inch) ammunition family will be integrated with BAE Systems’ globally proven Mk 45 Mod 4 naval gun system. The partnership is designed to strengthen the operational capabilities of naval forces both domestically in Germany and internationally.

The agreement also covers exploratory work on the potential integration of Diehl Defence’s IRIS-T family of guided missiles into BAE Systems’ portfolio of launching systems.
