Microrobot Era Begins in USAF

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) announced that USAF has begun using microrobots in base security. The football-sized platform records audio and video to transfer information simultaneously. Available for use on various terrains, Throwbot can continue the operation when it falls from areas up to 10 meters high. The USAF aims to identify people who remain in the corners in a possible clash at the bases with Throwbot's camera. The microrobot will also be used in commercial vehicle inspections, control of the bottom of vehicles and counter-terrorism measures at base entry points.

In Turkey, Elektroland Defence company's robotic platforms are used by the Turkish Armed Forces for similar purpose. The company's product catalogue also features an ACROB mini-reconnaissance surveillance robot. There are two cameras on the platform, front and rear. Resistant to falling from a height of six meters, the robot can pass through 10 cm deep water.
