Launch of First Submarine is Close

 

Brazil, announced that launching first platform of Riachuelo Class submarines. Submarie will be launched in 14 December in a ceremony to be held at the Itaguaí Naval Shipyard in the Itaguaí Naval Complex.

 

 

 

The submarine under construction on the Estaleiro de Construção sleds will be transported to the TTS Syncrolift platform and will wait for the moment to meet the sea. The submarine will remain in the pier for two more years for construction and testing processes and will be delivered in 2020.

 

 

 

Platforms can be described as Improved Scorpene class. Submarine was built in five compartments. The construction of the Riachuelo’s bow, third and fourth segments completed in France. Whole boat’s construction will be completed in Brazil. The remaining three platforms will be built in Brazil with local facilities.

 

 

 

The total length of the submarine is 71,62 meters and its displacement will be 1870 tons. Platforms capable of anti-submarine and surface warfare have six 533 mm torpedo tubes. Submarines, also called S-BRs, can also launch the SM39 Exocet Block 2 Mod 2 missiles
