KF-X’s Last Assembly Can Be Completed This Year

The final assembly date has been given for the KF-X (Korean Fighter-eXperimental) project, where The Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) is the main contractor. Last week, General Electric (GE) Aviation announced that it had delivered the program's first F414-GE-400K engine in May. An official at KAI said work was underway to complete the final installation of the combat aircraft at the end of this year.

The company official said the upper, middle and lower parts of the platform's body have now been assembled. The first prototype of the aircraft is expected to be completed next year.

After the first engine delivered in May, GE Aviation completed the supply of a total of 15 F414-GE-400Ks.

KF-X, developed with a joint subsidiary of the Republic of Korea and Indonesia, is scheduled to begin its flight tests in 2023.
