July 26, 2018Japan sees cost for Aegis Ashore doubling initial quote

Japanese Defence Ministry has newly estimated that the price tag of two land-based missile batteries Japan aims to deploy could cost around $3.6 billion, doubling the initial quotation.
The Japanese government insists installing the U.S.-developed Aegis Ashore system in Akita and Yamaguchi prefectures to strengthen country’s defence against potential nuclear weapon or missile threats. Two batteries are believed to be sufficient to cover Japan's entire territory.
