An agreement has been reached between the Georgian Ministry of Defence and Rafael, an Israeli-based firm. Under the agreement to strengthen and enhance Georgia's air defence capabilities, the country's air defence equipment will be fully modernised.
They also spoke about the possibility of cooperation, including the training of staff, and future plans.
Georgia also met with another Israeli-based company, Elbit Systems, on air defence development. Collaboration with Elbit Systems is being considered for modern radio and electronic systems that will bring aircraft and helicopters in the country's inventory closer to NATO standards.
Georgia's inventory has air platforms such as The Su-25 (NATO code: Frogfoot), L-59 Albatross and An-28 (Cash).
