Iran Unveiled New Ballistic Missile

Iran, which has frequently come to the fore with its nuclear studies and ballistic missile programs, unveiled a new ballistic missile.

At the ceremony organized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the Raad-500 surface-to-surface ballistic missile and new generation rocket engines were introduced. It was stated at the ceremony, which was also broadcasted on Iran State Television, that the new rocket engines were suitable for use with ballistic missile and satellite carrier rocket systems. Raad-500 is propelled by Zuheyr motor. The fuselage of the missile, which uses solid fuel technology that reducing pre-preparation time before launch, is produced with fibre-carbon composite technology and is a first in the country in this field. With a combat weight of about 2,000 kilograms, the Raad-500 weighs less than its predecessor, the metal-fuselage Fateh-110 missiles. In this way, the missile can reach 200 km longer range and engage targets at 500 km distance.
