According to India based Dnaindia, Indian Army plans to recruit double-humped camel of Ladakh to help troops patrol the India-China border in Eastern Ladakh. Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has conducted research on them. These camels, also called the Bactrian camels, can carry a load of 170 kilos at heights that are 17,000 feet above sea level. Camels can patrol 12 km in two hours. They can survive at temperature -40 Celsius. These camels can survive for three days without food and water. they can drink 110 lt water in 13 minutes. It will take 6 months this animal to be conducted to the army.
