Philippines procured spare parts of US $ 48 million for UH-1 Huey helicopters in its inventory from Japan. It was announced that the spare parts and equipment were donated to the Philippines in order to increase the defence and humanitarian capabilities of the Philippines Army.

After retiring its UH-1 Huey helicopters, Japan is trying to dispose of spare parts and hardware in its warehouses and make room for new systems. In a statement from the Philippines, the equipment donated from Japan was reported to be sufficient to reunite the five UH-1s that are in non-flying condition. Philippines announced in a statement, spare parts and hardware in the inventory of the UH-1's for a few more years was sufficient to fly.
