GTU and AzTU rectors signing a protocol for an international graduate program on energetic materials for the defense industry.

Gebze Technical University and Azerbaijan Technical University have launched a joint graduate programme. The programme aims to meet the need for engineers in the field of energetic materials for the defence industry. This collaboration is especially significant for anyone pursuing defense energetic materials expertise.

A protocol was signed between Gebze Technical University (GTU) and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). It establishes an international joint thesis-based master’s programme in the field of Materials Engineering (Energy and Energetic Materials). This programme covers topics related to energetic materials in the defence industry. The ceremony was held in Azerbaijan. Notably, GTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, AzTU Rector Prof. Dr. Vilayat Valiyev, Azerbaijan Deputy Minister of National Education Idris Isayev, and Deputy Minister of Defence Industry Hidayat Asimov attended.

Technical Objectives of the Cooperation

GTÜ ve AzTU heyetinin savunma sanayii teknik iş birliği kapsamında Azerbaycan'daki havacılık ve İHA laboratuvarlarını incelemesi.

The signed protocol aims to combine the academic and technical infrastructure of both universities. It includes the following goals. The main focus of the programme is to generate new projects addressing energetic materials in the defense industry, especially those related to defense energetic materials.

Technical Capacity: Conducting interdisciplinary academic studies at the postgraduate level.

Human Resources: To train a cadre of engineers specialised in high-energy materials used in the defence industry. This training focuses particularly on energetic materials with applications in defense energetic materials.

Infrastructure Integration: Joint use of laboratories and research centres belonging to both universities is planned for scientific activities.

Education Process and Technical Details

The language of instruction for the joint master’s programme has been determined as Turkish. Moreover, students will be admitted in accordance with the academic criteria of both institutions. Quotas will be planned annually. Scholarship opportunities for citizens of the Republic of Türkiye will also be considered. The programme will offer significant opportunities for students interested in education regarding energetic materials, particularly those relating to defense energetic materials, for the defence industry.

Following the signing ceremony, the GTU delegation visited laboratories and research centres within AzTU.
