Russia has announced the development of a new generation aircraft. According to the Russian press, the new platform will be a fifth-generation interceptor aircraft.

The platform, will known as MiG-41, will replace MiG-31 (NATO Code: Foxhound) aircraft that are nearing the end of their life. It was stated that the project was not new and that the design work for some time has been continuing and the works for the new platform started in the beginning of 2018 by UAC company. The detailed characteristics of the aircraft have not yet been determined and they are fully dependent on the capabilities of designer company and Russian requirements. The new MiG to be developed will be distributed to the interceptor units in the 2020s.
