Gürcan Okumuş, who is the TÜBİTAK SAGE (Savunma Sanayii Araştırma ve Geliştirme Enstitüsü / Defence Industries Research and Development Instute) Institute Director, was a guest on live stream at C4Defence's Instagram account. Okumuş made important statements about domestic Excalibur artillery round studies.
With the developments in the field of pyrotechnic materials, the range of artillery rounds was significantly extended. As the range increased, the accuracy became an important problem, thus the need for guided artillery ammunition also born. The domestic counterpart of Excalibur, developed in this context, is coming. Okumuş stated that there is a study on domestic guided artillery ammunition with the cooperation of TÜBİTAK SAGE and MKEK and it is too early to give details.
