The Danish Armed Forces Drone Centre (FDC) has received nine Dropla 4×4 unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). The vehicles will be used in the training of drone operators, including conscripts.
The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (FMI) has procured nine new UGVs for the training of Danish Armed Forces personnel, including conscript drone operators. The training will take place at the Danish Armed Forces Drone Centre (FDC). The UGVs were delivered by Danish company Dropla, which has close ties with Ukraine.
The procurement forms part of FMI’s efforts to test UGVs and gain experience in this field. Earlier in 2026, FMI also acquired eight UGVs for the Danish Army and stated that the vehicles had been successfully tested in various operational scenarios throughout the year.
UGVs to be Used for Training
Highlighting the rapid development in the field of unmanned systems, Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, Head of FMI’s Land Division, said it was highly important to gain experience with the technology and begin integrating it into military training at an early stage.
Knudsen stated that the new UGVs would provide the Drone Centre with the opportunity to work with mobile ground-based unmanned systems and would help lay the groundwork for exploring how the technology could be used within the Armed Forces in the future.

Experience Gained from Ukraine
Dropla is a Denmark-based company founded by Ukrainians, with operations and partnerships in Ukraine. Based on experience gained from Ukraine and tests conducted with other unmanned ground vehicles in Denmark, FMI has begun exploring options for integrating additional equipment into the new systems. Modifications involving remote-controlled weapon systems and communications equipment are among the options under consideration. The new UGVs are intended both to provide the Armed Forces with early experience in operating this technology and to lay the groundwork for exploring how unmanned ground vehicles could be employed across a wide range of missions in the future.
