The Spanish Council of Ministers approved the modernization of the D variant of Chinook helicopters to the F level in the Spanish Army inventory. With the approval of the budget of € 819,229 million, the heavy transport power of the army will remain active after 2020. Maintenance costs will drop and helicopters will require 56% less maintenance.
Modernization works will start in 2018 and the first helicopter will be delivered in 2021. All work will be completed in 2025.
