Additional Submarine on the Way

Indonesia is advancing bargaining for additional submarine procurement. Negotiations with the Republic of Korea are expected to come to an end in a short period of time.

The Indonesian Ministry of Defence, PT PAL and the DSME shipyard continue to negotiate for three additional Type 209/1400 submarines. In the remaining period, negotiations were held to elaborate the agreement. The agreement, including the technical support and training package, is expected to cost around $ 1.2 billion.

The first contract was signed in 2011 for Type 209 submarines operating under the name of the Nagapasa class in the Indonesian Navy. Two of the six modules of the platforms were built in the PT PAL facilities, and the remaining four modules built on the DSME and were completed in Korea.
