September 11, 20205 Rafale fighter jets joined IAF with a ceremony
The first batch of five Rafale fighter jets has been formally inducted into the IAF in a ceremony at the Ambala airbase. The event was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and French Counterpart Florence Parly.
India will receive another five aircraft by November. India will receive 36 aircraft in total.
Rafale fighter jets will join the 17th squadron called “Golden Arrows” of the Indian Air Force.
The Ministry of Defence of India signed a contract worth $ 7.87 billion with France-based Dassault Aviation in September 2016. The Indian Air Force, received its first Rafale aircraft in October 2019, recently deployed five Rafale-type fighter jets at Ambala Air Base in the country.
