Russian Firepower Power to Egyptian Ships

Egypt comes to the fore with the tension in the Eastern Mediterranean, the training and exercise activities carried out with different countries in the region. The Cairo government, which acquire currency with its collaborations in the region, published new images from the navy.

In the images published from the Egyptian Navy deploying different aircraft on the platform, it was determined that the country also deployed Russian-made aircraft on the ships. The Navy, which played an active role in the Eastern Mediterranean tension and therefore continued to increase its armed force at sea, deployed Ka-52 to the ships. While no weapon load was visible at the stations, 30 mm guns on the right side of the helicopters can be seen. In the same image, AH-64 Apache and CH-47 Chinook helicopters drew attention on the flight deck. Egypt, which is trying to improve its army power with most imports, thus signed a rare air task group on ENS Gamal Abdel Nasser (L1010). Two Mistral-class LHDs built for Russia didn’t deliver to the Russian Navy due to annexation of Crimea and sold to Egypt.

The Ka-52 Alligator (NATO Code: Hokum-B) helicopters with a coaxial rotor structure can increase their maximum range from 520 km to 1100 kilometres with external fuel tanks. Driven by two 2200 HP Klimov TV3-117VK engines, Alligators have a maximum take-off weight of 10,800 kilograms. Platforms have high firepower and can be equipped with 30 mm 2A42 guns, as well as 9K121, Kh-25MP air to surface missiles and rocket pods.
