Organised on behalf of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, the 14th International Maritime Exhibition & Conference took place in Istanbul between March 21-24, 2017. Speaking at the Conference, Executive Board Member of Sedef Shipyard, Orkun Kalkavan announced that production and design of Turkey’s first Multipurpose Amphibious Assault Ship (Landing Helicopter Dock/ LHD) were proceeding in tandem.  

Signifying the largest naval platform in Turkish Armed Forces inventory once it is completed, TCG ANADOLU is being built at Sedef Shipyard in collaboration with Navantia. Providing information at the 14th International Maritime Exhibition & Conference as regards the latest developments on the subject, Executive Board Member of Sedef Shipyard, Orkun Kalkavan conveyed that “Our ship entered into force with the contract signed with our Undersecretary for Defence Industries on June 1, 2015. It has been 18 months since then. Although design work has been going on, we simultaneously commenced production in the last three months.”
