At a time of rising global geopolitical risks, Türkiye’s first and only homeland and border security event, SEDEC 2026, is expanding its scope this year to include cyber security and satellite technologies. Transitioning to a dynamic “SEDEC Meetings” format that focuses on targeted business meetings rather than large exhibition stands, the event will take place from 1‑3 December 2026 at the Intercontinental Grand Ankara, with the support of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and the Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association (SSI). It will bring together procurement delegations from more than 80 countries directly with Turkish manufacturers, ushering in a new era in exports.
In the face of escalating global security demands, SEDEC 2026 prioritises the production of equipment, hardware, and services used by procurement authorities by Turkish industrialists. The event will host professionals from allied nations in the fields of homeland, border, internal, coastal, and urban security. In line with the requirements of the digital age, cyber security, data/information security, and satellite technologies—key to uninterrupted communications—will also be on the agenda this year.
The organisation has two main strategic objectives:
- Meeting all the needs of critical institutions such as the Ministry of Interior (General Command of Gendarmerie, General Directorate of Security, Coast Guard Command), the Ministry of National Defence (Land, Naval, Air Forces Commands), SSB, and MİT through domestic means, to ensure they achieve the highest level of operational capability.
- Increasing the current defence exports of Turkish industrialists engaged in R&D and Ur‑Ge (International Competitiveness Development) projects, while opening up entirely new markets.
Deterrent Security Approach and the “SEDEC Meetings” Era
Due to Türkiye’s geographical location, the critical role of border security in preventing illegal crossings, economic losses from smuggling, and the socio‑economic damage of irregular migration is constantly reaffirmed by developments in neighbouring regions. Operating on the vision that deterrent and preventive services are always more economical in establishing security, SEDEC is undergoing a concept change tailored to the current conjuncture this year.
In light of these developments, the organisation will be held under the “SEDEC Meetings” brand, consisting of result‑oriented meeting areas rather than large and costly stand designs. The three‑day event at Intercontinental Grand Ankara will begin on the first day with a high‑level conference covering border security, internal security, and the supply chain. Participating companies and sectoral visitors will then take part in seminars, workshops, and an intensive B2B/B2G (Business and Government Meetings) marathon over the following two days. On the third day of the organisation, special company visits will be arranged for foreign delegations.
A Global Export Bridge with SMEs and Ur‑Ge Projects
Operating under the motto “The right people, the right business, in a short time!”, the platform focuses on accelerating supply chain links between major prime contractors and SME‑level manufacturers. These moves, which will shape the future of the security sector, are also supported by work carried out under the Ur‑Ge project, conducted at Technopark Ankara with the backing of the Ministry of Trade.
Through pre‑scheduled bilateral business meetings (B2B & B2G), global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and first‑ and second‑tier suppliers will sit down directly with Turkish security and defence companies. In this way, the high‑tech capabilities and production achievements of Turkish SMEs will be directly showcased to decision‑makers and procurement authorities from more than 80 countries, opening new doors for exports.
