Republic of Korea’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) announced on 28 March that the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF) had received the second of four A330-200 MRTTs, which are known as KC-330 Cygnus in RoKAF service.

This is the second of four Airbus Defence and Space (DS) A330-200 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft ordered in 2015, the in Seoul announced on 28 March.

The aircraft will undergo further checks and is expected to be operational by April or May 2019, while deliveries of the third and fourth units will be made by November and December 2019, respectively.
The KC-330 / A330-200 MRTT was selected over the Boeing KC-46A Pegasus and IAI B767-300 MMTT in 2015 in a deal worth US$1.2 billion.
In late 2016 the US approved a possible USD141 million Foreign Military Sale of AN/AAQ-24(V) Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) systems for installation on the RoKAF’s four MRTTs.
