F-35 Seeks for Measure Against 5G

5G communication technology is counting days to take its place in daily life. The widespread use of the frequency spectrum used in the said infrastructure has created a risk for reduced radar cross-section area aircraft.

According to the statement of the US National Spectrum Consortium on April 1, the USA will test the F-35 Lightning IIs on the 5G communication network. However, these trials will not be in the field of data transfer or communication. The F-35s connected to Hill Air Force Base (Hill AFB / Hill Air Base) will be used on trials and the process will be carried out in the Utah Test and Training Range. In addition to preparing the test program, the consortium will be responsible for activities such as the preparation of 5G prototypes, measurement and evaluation.

The method, which is the new generation communication technology, requires a very large bandwidth to transfer the necessary data. Therefore, high-frequency ranges are preferred for 5G. Widespread use of technology means radio frequency density like never before in the regions where the infrastructure is located. Radio waves, which are emitted regularly in a certain range, provide a suitable environment for the use of passive radars. Passive radars detect the frequency intensity in the environment by means of the receivers on it, and detect the distortions and warn the user. Contrary to the method of working with the transmitter-receiver binary, as in traditional radars, it is stated that it is very difficult to avoid even reduced radar cross-sectional aircraft that operate only with passive receiver equipment.
