We have reached the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Assembly, which decided how to manage the War of Independence. The Assembly, which was founded a hundred years ago, has struggled to accept its legitimacy both in the country and abroad. On the other hand, he directed the War of Independence, which was carried out to get rid of the lands of the homeland from enemy invasion. Within this framework, it played an essential role in collecting country resources and sending them to the war and managed the development movement from the first moment. Since the Assembly used this authority on behalf of the nation from the very first moment, it adopted the phrase “Sovereignty is Unconditionally Nationless” as the philosophy of its movement.
Bayram was first celebrated as the April 23rd National Day in the first year of the opening of the Assembly. The next year a new holiday was born with the abolition of the sultanate on November 1, 1922. It was called Judge-National Day and the two holidays combined with the April 23 National Day in 1935. In the next stage, the festival reached its present form with the spontaneous merging of 23 April Children's Day, which was declared by the Society of Himaye-i Etfal in 1927 and the first of which was organized under the patronage of Atatürk. The National Security Council, which took over the administration on 12 September 1980, officially called this holiday “April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day”.
Hakimiyet-i Milliye Bayram aims to celebrate the abolition of the sultanate and the opening of the Assembly and the sovereignty from the sultan and given to the people. Children's Day, on the other hand, was started with the orphan and orphan children due to the war.
Founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey is the first feast which was a gift to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the world's children.
