In the defence industry, data generated by dozens of different radios, sensors, and mission systems inside armoured vehicles often remains fragmented, limiting situational awareness on the battlefield. Karel, one of Türkiye’s leading technology companies, is showcasing its new in-vehicle integrated communication gateway solution, COMLINE, at SAHA 2026, which runs from May 5-9. COMLINE unites this fragmented structure under a single digital backbone.
COMLINE as the Answer to Fragmented Data Issues on the Field
Traditional defence communication approaches have focused solely on data transmission speed for many years, but in today’s multi-layered operational environment, the integration problem of independent subsystems has become one of the most critical challenges. Inside an armoured vehicle, there are many components such as radios, sensors, and mission computers. Most of these systems are added to the vehicle as independent “bolt-on” structures. This leads to fragmented information reaching decision-makers at critical moments, slowing down decision-making processes.
With its integrated communication architecture, Karel transforms this independent-system approach into a centralized and manageable structure. At the heart of this architecture lies the new in-vehicle integrated communication gateway COMLINE, which brings hardware and software layers together in a flexible framework, providing secure, uninterrupted voice, data, and video communication between different communication protocols and electronic subsystems.
Expanding the Communication Layer with COMBAT and MOBAT
This integrated architecture is not limited to in-vehicle communication alone—it extends across the entire battlefield. The system works seamlessly with wearable technologies, particularly Karel’s MOBAT operational headset family, and together with the COMBAT 5G private mobile network solution, it strengthens operational communication.
Yavuz Bayız, Head of Karel’s Defence Technologies Group, stated in his assessment that they are accelerating decision-making processes with integrated architectures that provide seamless and secure communication among all elements on the tactical battlefield.
The high bandwidth and low latency advantages offered by 5G infrastructure enable the establishment of a real-time, high-resolution, and secure communication network between in-vehicle command units and troops on the ground. Thanks to this closed-loop, end-to-end controllable communication layer on the field, real-time video transmission, location-based tracking, and tactical application sharing continue without interruption even in the most challenging operational conditions, transforming them into meaningful and actionable intelligence.
At SAHA 2026, Karel will offer visitors an interactive experience area where they can directly observe this integrated architecture and the speed that 5G infrastructure brings to the field.
Avionics Systems and Advanced Technology Solutions
In addition to ground vehicles, Karel will also showcase its critical avionics system solutions for aerial platforms at SAHA 2026. The fair will feature key components such as the Backup Flight Indicator (BFI), which ensures flight continuity and provides protection against threats; the Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC); and the Countermeasures Dispenser System (KTAS).
Also on display at the fair will be cost-effective solutions developed under Karel Advanced Technologies, featuring low footprint, low power consumption, and lightweight system architecture. The digital receiver developed by the company over the last two years—with its independently operable multi-channel structure, wide instantaneous frequency coverage, and fast signal processing capability—meets the needs of missiles and unmanned platforms. A DRFM-based jamming system and test equipment operating on unmanned platforms are among the other advanced technology products Karel will highlight at the fair.
