Thales introduces the new Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) for small and medium-sized aircraft. The design phase of the radar, called AirMaster C, has been completed and air tests will be completed.
Thales Sales Director Stéphane Lavigne said the French Armed Forces have announced an intention to purchase the new radar for Guépard, the helicopter it plans to commission in Airbus 2026.
Developed based on silicon-germanium technology, the AirMaster C is able to cool itself and is 30% lower than other radars in its class.
The radar is smaller than the combination of two A4-sized pages and weighs less than 20 kilograms.
