Turkish defence industry continues its export success despite COVID-19 conditions.
BMC, one of the domestic armoured land vehicle manufacturers, exported 8×8 Tank Transport Vehicles to a NATO country. According to the news of Anadolu Agency, North Macedonia, which was accepted in the alliance in the past months, became the first foreign customer of the vehicle.
The combat weight of the platform, which is capable of serving main battle tanks, especially Altay, is 120 tons. Currently, there are 72 units of 8×8 Tank Carrier Wheeled Vehicles, which has 70 tons towing capacity in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory. The vehicle, which has a 620 hp diesel engine and 7 forward 1 reverse gearbox, can reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h. The operational range of the vehicle, which can climb 60% slopes and move at 30% side slope, is 950 kilometres.
In addition to M60T Sabra, M60 Patton, Leopard 1 main battle tanks, the platform allows the transportation of all kinds of land vehicles, especially platforms such as T-155 Fırtına self-propelled howitzer, Armoured Personnel Carrier, ACV-15, ACV-19. The vehicle can carry 1 main battle tank or two Armored Combat Vehicles at the same time.
