The State Department has come up with new calculation about 120 mmm tank rounds sale to Egypt. Current State Department notification reads; “The State Department has decided to approve a possible Foreign Military Sale to Egypt of 46,000 M831A1 and M865 rounds and 10,000 APFSDS-T rounds for an estimated cost of $201 million. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.” What makes the notification interesting is that “this notification supersedes and replaces Transmittal No. 18-05 delivered to Congress on September 17, 2018. The descriptions and quantities of all defence articles and services are unchanged. The dollar values are updated with this new transmittal.”
The US State Department has calculated that same 120 MM tank rounds would cost 99 million USD to Egypt. After new calculation the price tag is doubled. Egypt will only get 46 000 120 MM tank rounds but will pay more than double.
