The United States has delivered four A-29 Super Tucano light assault aircraft to Afghanistan. “The Air Force has the ability to strike light from the air anywhere in the country. Enemy bases will be destroyed with the help of A-29.” Afghanistan announced.

The Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and Embraer Defence & Security signed an agreement with the U.S. Air Force to develop a $1.8 billion Tucano in October 2018 as part of the A-29 Afghanistan Program.

In April 2018, two Tucanos were delivered for the Afghanistan Program, and the number of aircraft to be delivered was increased to 26.

A suitable platform for low-density conflicts, the aircraft can be used effectively in protecting airspace against some airborne threats with its air-to-air missile ignition capability. Of the planes, 12 were operational in the Afghan Air Force inventory, while seven were used for pilot training at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.

At this time, it is not known exactly how many Tucano in Afghanistan’s inventory.
