The naval helicopter market is expanding due to the balances in the oceans. In this context, the configurations of the platforms that the ordered by countries will receive are also determined.
India announced that it will acquire 24 MH-60R naval helicopters last February. Within the scope of the agreement, which includes six AH-64 Apache and 24 MH-60 Romeo, and the total cost of which is announced as 2.12 billion USD. The model of the platforms that New Delhi will take delivery has been announced. Indian helicopters will be equipped with the same systems as 10 MH-60Rs ordered by Saudi Arabia and will be in a similar configuration.
Helicopters to be procured by the Indian Navy inventory will have equipment such as AN/AAS-44C (V) multi-spectral targeting system, AN/AVS-9 night vision goggles, AN/SSQ-36/53/62 sonobuoy and Raytheon Mk 54 torpedo. Within the scope of the acquirement to be provided from sole-source, platforms in base configuration will be armed with AGM-114R Hellfire II and APKWS systems. In addition, it is stated that Indian Romeos will be equipped with Kongsberg production NSM. Thus, the platforms will be the first helicopters equipped with NSM long-range anti-ship missiles.
